New network for African women in supply chain leadership launched in Nairobi
Pamela Steele Associates in partnership with the SOLVE (Supply Optimization Through Logistics Visibility & Evolution) Initiative and the ARC (Africa Resource Centre), hosted the official launch event for “African Women in Supply Chain Leadership (WISCL) at the Tribe Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya this week sponsored by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The initiative is to bolster supply chain skills among female professionals in Africa through mentorship and coaching and to address the numerous technical and practical issues that continue to hinder females in the supply chain sector.
The event was attended by an impressive group of 43 professionals in leading roles within 17 organisations from the private, health and humanitarian supply chain sectors in Kenya, who can be considered champions for women through their work in UNFPA, World Vision, KEMSA, JSI, Save the Children, among others. The initiative aims to fully address the gender gap in the sector, increasing the number of women in supply chain leadership. The goal is to fuel supply chain innovation, close the talent gap and improve healthcare and humanitarian response performance by advancing women into senior leadership roles.
The SOLVE Initiative provides a unique value proposition uniting WFP’s global supply chain talent, knowledge and global network with BMGF’s expertise in the health and technical environment. The Africa Resource Centre (ARC), led by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation with contributions from various partners, donors and private sector stakeholders, believe in the value of optimizing the transformation of public healthcare supply chains in Africa.
The attendees engaged in interesting group discussions and Q&A sessions about supply chain management across sectors.
