Inauguration of change management team for Niger State public health supply chain transformation

4th June 2018

Minna, Niger, Nigeria, 31st May 2018. Niger State inaugurated their Change Management Team at a meeting held at the Haske Luxury Hotel. The team, comprising the Steering Committee and Operations Teams, will manage the process of their Supply Chain Transformation (SCT) internally, ensuring a smooth transition to an efficient system.

The formation of this team was an important step in the first phase of the transformation, aimed at improving the health supply chain for the greater good of the Niger people. The newly assembled CMT was quick to assign project responsibilities through a RACI matrix. This will be the basis for the coordination of transformation activities.

‘I am proud to see the kick-start of the Niger Supply Chain Transformation project, led and owned by the State. The clarity of roles and responsibilities is a cornerstone in this Transformation, and the set up of the Change Management Team is impressive. I believe [this] team will be successful in driving the transformation forward in collaboration with their partners. The visionary High Commissioner for Health, their close partners, and the hard work behind this project are sure to bring much-needed improvement to millions of lives in Niger,’ Pamela Steele, CEO

The event followed the 2nd – 8th May 2018 SCT Kick-Off Workshop, a strategic engagement meeting that set the ‘change agenda’ for improvement of the State Public Health Supply Chain. PSA facilitated both events as technical partner for Supply Chain Capacity Development (SCCD).

‘I see PSA’s coming as a catalyst for change in our Health Supply Chain and this has helped me understand more succinctly our SC systems. If you don’t know where you are, you cannot determine where you are going,’ Dr Muhammed Jibril, HCH Niger State

PSA would like to thank the Honourable Commissioner for Health for his presence, despite his fully committed agenda. We feel inspired by the Niger State’s dedication and we will continue to support, and work with their CMT team, through SCCD to achieve the envisioned well-coordinated ‘Gold Standard’ of Public Health Supply Chain Management System.

The Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed (RACI) matrix is a responsibility assignment chart that maps out every task, milestone or key decision involved in completing a project and assigns which roles are Responsible for each action item, which personnel are Accountable, and, where appropriate, who needs to be Consulted or Informed (source).

Supply Chain Capacity Development (SCCD) is a holistic approach to increasing in-country capacity at individual and organisational levels to better manage an effective supply chain.
