KEMSA The Last Mile

16th June 2020

While many still lack access to essential medicines, it gives me joy to know that KEMSA is fulfilling its mandate by procuring, warehousing and distributing medicine to far flung health facilities in Kenya at an affordable price to promote greater access.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed many weaknesses in supply chain systems in low- and middle-income countries. Those who saw the need to transform such as KEMSA in Kenya, NMSF in Sudan, and NMS in Uganda, may be able to cope better than others during the pandemic.

For several years, PSA has encouraged South-South Knowledge Exchange (SoSoKE), an initiative to bring together health supply chain leaders and managers from two or more African countries to see each other’s operations up close and to learn from the other’s experiences. KEMSA is the public health supply chain agency where we have taken most of our clients.

Now, you can see KEMSA in action for yourself. Please watch this video of their operations in Kenya.
