International Women’s Day celebration at EPSA

6th March 2019

The Ethiopia Pharmaceutical Supplies Agency (EPSA) celebrated International Women’s Day at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), in Addis Ababa. The motto for the event translated from Amharic was ‘Attention and commitment to female comprehensive participation and benefits.’ It was attended by the top performing women from EPSA’s 19 hubs.

The celebration included an award ceremony that recognised those who had made a great impact in their hubs, had the most dedication to their roles and the longest careers with EPSA, some of over 30 years.

The General Director, Dr Loko Abraham, congratulated the women for the impact they are making in the supply chain sector. He urged more women to strive for excellence, as the numbers of women in leadership positions at EPSA has grown from 6% to 29%, since 2012.

Mr Admasu Teketel, Director, Capacity Building and Operational Research, gave a short presentation on the Admas Programme, launched on 2nd March 2019 in Adama. ‘Based on the activities that will be carried out,’ Mr Teketel said, ‘there is

great potential for women in EPSA to grow their skills.’ The first step will be competency mapping to find out what skill gaps exist in EPSA.  Mr Teketel encouraged all the hubs to embrace the Admas Programme, as this is what ‘will propel EPSA to the next level.’
