Dear Sir/Madam,

We are requesting you to partner with us to help reduce youth unemployment in our society with a focus on the young girls who are most vulnerable by offering a placement for one or more interns on the Girls on the Move internship programme.

Girls on the Move is a bold new venture to open the world of supply chain management to girls in Kenya, and beyond. It will introduce 30 young women to career opportunities in the supply chain sector in Kenya.

The programme is a 12-month pilot program sponsored by Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition in Kisumu, Kenya, with the actual work placement period being 8 months starting from 1st July 2022.

Why you should be involved

We are aware that as an organisation, you do your best to address the unemployment rate in our county of Kisumu.

A recent study revealed that the unemployment crisis in Kenya is a national cause of concern which is likely to get worse as the youth population increases. The Kenyan economy is not creating sufficient jobs to cater for the youth population.

Those in sub-national regions such as Kisumu particularly struggle to enter the labour market due to a lack of skills and relevant work experience, and women are disproportionately affected by the crisis, yet they are also the most vulnerable. The situation is even worse at rural levels and the Covid-19 pandemic worsened the situation.

Some of the areas of responsibility where an intern could gain experience include: Product selection and use Assistant/Officer; Procurement and supply Assistant/Officer; Tender management Assistant/Officer; Contracts and Agreements Assistant/Officer; Receiving and inventory Assistant/Officer; Order Processing Assistant/Officer; Waste and Returns Assistant/Officer; QA/QMS Assistant/Officer; Demand and supply planning Assistant/Officer; Warehouse/Storage Assistant/Officer; Inventory Management Assistant/Officer; Transport and delivery Assistant/Officer; Return and Disposal Assistant/Officer; Customer and Sales Assistant/Officer; Supply Chain Performance monitoring Assistant/Officer.

Benefits to you as a partner
Partners gain an unpaid volunteer for 8 months. We select bright, inquisitive, analytical, talented, hardworking, energetic, and ambitious interns who provide you and your organisation with creative input and quality results. Other benefits include:

  • Managed internship: advertising, selection per your need
  • Publicity both locally and internationally of the programme
  • Increased community awareness
  • New inspiration and motivation
  • Building synergies
  • Free supply chain maturity assessment of your supply chain system and operations

The Girls on the Move internship programme is also a wonderful way to promote your organisation among other participants.

You may accept up to 3 interns (not more) if there is someone to supervise them. The programme covers the interns’ expenses for local transport and lunch. In return, the intern is exposed to new skills and work in your industry sector.

If you are interested in partnering with us, then kindly complete the form here on or before 10th June 2022, and if you have any questions contact us at: gotm@pamsteele.org. All those who choose to partner with us will be required to attend a two-hour launch event in CBD, Kisumu on 1st July 2022, venue to be communicated later.
